Pallet Manufacturers Do They Care?
Wooden pallets come in all shapes and sizes as
wooden pallets are generally made to suit your product. In the
pallet industry a lot of pallet manufacturers of wooden pallets
will just try to attempt to sell you pallets where they are not
really suitable for the safety of your product because they are
more interested in making higher margins from their wooden pallets.
With wooden pallets most of the dispersed weight
is on the bearers but, if your product isn’t dispersed right
across the wooden pallet this would be called static weight. Static
weight is where the thickness of the boards becomes the most important
issue on a wooden pallet.
When packaging on wooden pallets there should
always be a 10mm, or more, safety margin left between the edge
of the wooden pallet and your product or products. This counteracts
product collision being one of the most often ways of ending up
with damaged product.
If a wooden pallet manufacturer doesn’t
ask what weights are going on the wooden pallet and whether it
is static or dispersed weight or doesn’t even slightly show
interest in your product be wary. This obviously means that he
doesn’t have your wooden pallet needs at heart.
Wooden pallet manufacturers will also try to put
you into a substandard wooden pallet by lowering the thickness
of their material. When asking for a quote always get the measurements
of the wood that they plan to use. This way you will be able to
receive quotes for the same type of wooden pallet.
